Employer description:

About Matillion:

Matillion is a fast-growing, cloud-native data integration and transformation company. We help businesses build and scale data pipelines across platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, and Synapse.

With global offices, we support leading brands including Cisco, Slack, and TUI in turning data into actionable insight. Recognised as a Great Place to Work in both the UK and US, Matillion fosters a culture built on collaboration, innovation, and customer focus.

About the role:

We’re looking for a motivated and curious individual to join our AI & Automation team. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a technology-related degree or qualification — or someone who has gained office experience supporting system improvements, digital transformation, or process change — and is now looking to specialise in AI and automation.

You don’t need to be an expert. You’ll learn on the job. What matters most is your enthusiasm for technology, your problem-solving mindset, and your drive to improve how things work.

This is a chance to build future-ready skills while contributing to meaningful business impact from day one.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting automation & process improvement:

  • Learning how to design and maintain automation workflows that streamline day-to-day business tasks
  • Working with teams across the organisation to identify opportunities for smarter, more efficient processes
  • Reducing manual and repetitive work by helping implement practical automation solutions
  • Supporting the rollout and continuous improvement of automation initiatives

Exploring AI in real business scenarios:

  • Assisting in the development of AI-powered tools that enhance productivity and decision-making
  • Learning how AI can be applied responsibly and effectively within a business environment
  • Experimenting with emerging technologies and helping identify practical use cases
  • Contributing ideas that support Matillion’s digital transformation journey

This role would suit:

  • Someone early in their career who has supported change or system improvement projects and wants to specialise
  • A recent tech graduate looking for hands-on, real-world experience
  • An organised, process-minded individual who naturally looks for better ways of working
  • Anyone excited by AI and automation and keen to develop in a fast-moving field

What we’re looking for:

  • A genuine interest in automation and how technology can improve business processes
  • Curiosity about AI and emerging technologies
  • An eagerness to learn about system integrations, workflows, and digital tools
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to take ownership of tasks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively across teams
  • A mindset focused on continuous improvement

Why this role is exciting:

  • Real impact: Your work will help shape how AI and automation are embedded across the organisation
  • Monthly innovation day: One dedicated day each month to experiment, explore new ideas, and develop creative solutions — with the opportunity to turn them into real business tools
  • A safe place to learn: We encourage experimentation and value learning through iteration
  • Dedicated learning budget: Access to funded certifications, micro-learning courses, and ongoing development resources
  • Expert mentorship: You’ll be supported by experienced AI and automation specialists who will guide your growth and development

Entry requirements:

  • Level 3 Qualification (Apprenticeship/A Levels/BTEC etc.)?
  • OR equivalent work experience (typically 2 years in a relevant role)?

AND

  • ?5 x GCSE’s including English & Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above.

You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.

If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

For more information please visit the UK ENIC website.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5.30pm. Hybrid - minimum of 4 days in the office (more flexibility 3-6 months in).

  • 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
